• What was Kandahar Street named after?

Kandahar Street was named after the city in Afganistan which was in British possession. The British had a practice of naming streets after their conquests (as a sign of achievement?). Perhaps there is a "Singapore Street" somewhere?

• Can you describe the Late Shophouses Style(1900-1940)?

The shophouses were in ornate style with elaborate ornamentation. So says the information board we found at Bussorah Street.
